Why Canva takes longer than it should
You Know Canva Should Be Saving You Time. Right Now It Is Not.
Canva looks simple. But without the right setup, every piece of content you create starts from scratch. Nothing is on brand. Nothing is fast. And the volume of content you need to produce never quite gets done.
- You are starting from a blank canvas every time instead of working from templates
- Your fonts, colours, and logos are not saved anywhere central so every piece looks slightly different
- You spend more time fiddling with design than you do on the message
- Your ads and social posts do not look polished or consistent with each other
- You cannot hand the work to a team member because there is no system for them to follow
- You know there are better ways to use Canva but you have not had time to figure them out
The problem is not Canva. It is that nobody has set it up properly for your brand. Once it is set up right, content that used to take an hour takes fifteen minutes.
What changes when Canva is set up as a system
What a Properly Set Up Canva Does for Your Brand and Your Marketing
- Every piece of content looks on brand without you having to think about it
- You create ads, social posts, and graphics in a quarter of the time
- You can produce more content at higher volume without sacrificing quality
- You can hand templates to a junior team member or coordinator and trust the output
- You have a process for reviewing and approving content before it goes live
- You look more polished and professional across every channel
- You can take a concept to a finished ad faster than you thought possible
Is this for you?
This Training Is for Anyone Who Creates Ads or Visuals for Their Brand and Wants to Do It Faster
This is for you if:
- You are a store owner or GM doing your own marketing and spending too long on content creation
- You are a marketing coordinator or junior team member responsible for ads and social media
- Your brand does not have a consistent visual identity across its content
- You want to increase your content volume without increasing the time you spend on it
- You want a system your whole team can use, not just one person who knows where everything is
- You are about to hire someone to help with marketing and want to set them up for success
This is not for you if:
- You already have a fully set up brand kit and template library and are happy with your output speed
- You want someone to create all your content for you rather than learning how to do it efficiently
- You are not in a position to invest time in implementing the system after the training
What we build together
Canva Training Built Around Your Brand and What You Create Most
We start by understanding what content you create most often and what your brand identity looks like. From there, we build your Canva setup and templates around your specific needs. Sessions are practical, not theoretical. You leave each one with something set up and ready to use.
What we cover and build together:
- Brand kit setup: fonts, colours, and logos saved centrally so every piece of content starts on brand
- How to find visual inspiration from brands you admire and adapt it to your own brand system
- Templates for the content types you create most often: ads, stories, social posts, email graphics, website banners
- How to structure your Canva workspace so files are organised and easy to find and hand off
- A template approval process so content looks consistent even when created by different people
- How to take a new concept to a finished design faster using Canva’s layout and element tools
- Optional: video content recipes for Reels, Pinterest video, and short-form ads so your brand shows up consistently in video too
The number of sessions depends on where you are starting from and what you need to build. Most clients complete the core setup in two sessions and come back for specific content types as their needs grow.

Your trainer
Lucy Ross, eCommerce Growth Marketer
Lucy has used Canva as an ad creation system in her own business for years. Setting up a proper brand kit and template library cut her content creation time significantly and made everything she produced look more polished and consistent. She now teaches the same system to eCommerce brands and marketing teams so they can produce more content, in less time, without sacrificing quality.
She works with a small number of clients at a time so training is genuinely built around your brand and your workflow, not a generic walkthrough.
Common questions about Canva training
Canva Training Questions Answered
Do I need Canva Pro for this training?
Canva’s free plan has most of what you need to get started. Canva Pro unlocks the brand kit feature, which makes the setup significantly faster and more powerful. If you are creating content regularly for a business, Pro is worth the cost and we can help you decide during the training. We work with both free and Pro accounts.
What is a Canva brand kit and why does it matter?
A brand kit in Canva is a central place where your brand fonts, colours, and logos are saved. Once it is set up, every template and design you create automatically uses your brand identity without you having to find the right hex code or upload a logo again. It is what makes Canva fast and consistent instead of slow and messy.
What kinds of templates will we build?
It depends on what you create most often. Common templates we build include Facebook and Instagram ad formats, Stories, Pinterest pins, email header graphics, website banners, and social media posts. We build templates for what you actually use, not a library of things you will never open.
Can I hand the templates to a junior team member after the training?
Yes. That is often the point. We set up the templates so they are easy to use without design knowledge. We also cover a simple approval process so content created by a team member gets reviewed before it goes live. The goal is a system anyone on your team can use and produce consistent output from.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on where you are starting from and what you need to build. Most clients complete their core brand kit and template setup in two sessions. If you want to add video content recipes or more advanced design workflows, that adds sessions. We figure out the right scope during the Business Scalability Audit.
I am not a designer. Will I be able to use Canva properly after this?
Yes. Canva is built for non-designers. The training is practical and we build everything in your account during the session so you can see exactly how it works. Most clients are surprised at how much they can produce once the system is set up correctly. You do not need design skills. You need the right setup and a few techniques that make everything faster.
Do you work with businesses outside New Zealand?
Yes. We work with store owners and marketing teams across New Zealand, Australia, and the United States. All training is delivered remotely via Zoom and we work across time zones efficiently.
